On April 29, 2021, the Harbor Child Care Center in Mineola at the Willis Ave. The School hosted a press conference to acknowledge the funding received for early childhood education from New York State, and funds earmarked for the Nassau BOCES Long Island Regional Technical Assistance Center. The Regional Technical Assistance Center is a new collaborative whose mission is to improve quality, access and equity in Pre-K and early education programs in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
In attendance were NYS Senator James Gaughran, NYS Senator Anna Kaplan, NYS Senator Kevin Thomas, NYS Assemblywoman Gina Sillitti, and Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages. Dr. Michael Nagler, Superintendent of Schools for the Mineola UFSD was also present, along with Nassau BOCES staff, Harbor Board members, a Harbor parent speaker and Harbor staff. We thank Nassau BOCES for asking us to host this memorable event, and for spearheading this initiative.
