Founded by Jill Rooney in 1973 within a Sea Cliff home, Harbor Child Care started with a modest group of eight children. It later achieved accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), establishing itself as one of the pioneering accredited childcare centers on Long Island.
Since then, Harbor Child Care has immensely expanded, offering quality early childhood education programs to families throughout Nassau County. Our five locations give members of the Long Island community access to all of our childcare services, serving all early learners, including:

- Toddlers
- Pre-Kindergarten
- School-Age
Additionally, the Harbor Child Care Summer Program enables children to participate in engaging and fun educational activities when school is out.

Our Glen Cove Center accommodates up to 140 early learners from 12 weeks to 12 years old.

Herricks – New Hyde Park
Our New Hyde Park location in Herricks Center accommodates up to 440 early learners from 12 weeks to 12 years old. This is our largest location, featuring 19 classrooms and spacious areas for outdoor play and learning.
Manhasset at North Shore University Hospital
Our Manhasset location on the North Shore University Hospital campus accommodates Nassau County’s earliest learners, providing up to 14 infants and 12 toddlers with a safe, nurturing environment to learn and socialize. Here, we specialize in preparing children for pre-kindergarten and beyond.

RXR Plaza – Uniondale
Our Uniondale Center at RXR Plaza accommodates up to 116 early learners from 12 weeks to five years old. Using The Creative Curriculum approach, we engage children and help them achieve educational objectives in all areas of learning while building lifelong friendships.
Willis Avenue – Mineola
Our Mineola location in the Willis Avenue Center accommodates up to 175 early learners from 12 weeks to five years old. Our Mineola and Uniondale locations both offer programs for infants, toddlers, and pre-kindergarteners.
