Each November, we take a moment at Harbor Child Care to recognize Native American Heritage Month. It’s a time to learn, to reflect, and to acknowledge the many Native communities who have shaped the history of this country, and who continue to contribute to our world today.
This isn’t just about the past. Native American culture is living and active, and this month gives us the opportunity to slow down and pay attention to that. Here on Long Island, we’re on land once cared for by Native peoples. That’s not always something we stop to think about, but it matters.
This month reminds us to show respect for culture, tradition, and the people who have been here long before us. And that respect aligns perfectly with what we strive to do at Harbor every day: help children feel connected, grounded, and part of something bigger.

We’re proud to be part of a community that values inclusion, and Native American Heritage Month is another opportunity to demonstrate that in a real, meaningful way.
